Police Arrest More Concerning The Altercation Following Bolton Wanderers vs. Wigan

Following the Wigan vs. Bolton game, police are looking into the altercation.

Authorities looking into a major fight that happened after this year’s Bolton Wanderers vs. Wigan athletic football game have published images of three persons they would want to talk with.

After the football game on August 19, violence broke out on Westhoughton’s Market Street. At least 50 individuals were reportedly involved in a violent altercation, according to police at the time. The frantic events between the football enthusiasts were captured on camera.

The persons in question were ordered to leave the area by a Section 34 Dispersal Order. Police said that one individual required medical care.

Regarding the violence, fifteen people have been taken into custody thus far. Following that, two individuals were taken into custody right away, and in early November raids, 12 more men, including a 16-year-old, were taken into custody.

A man in his 30s turned himself in to the police station yesterday. On bond, all 15 accused have been freed.

Three additional males whose images the police wish to talk with regarding the altercation were made public today. The probe “is still very much a live inquiry,” they declared.

It is being asked that anyone who knows anything about what transpired or who recognizes the individuals come forward. Superintendent Danny O’Neil of GMP’s Bolton division stated: “This event has resulted in several arrests, but the investigation is still very much ongoing.

We would like to speak with anyone who was at Westhoughton on August 19 at around 4:30 p.m. since we are assembling a compelling case. It just will not be allowed that innocent individuals were involved in the violence.”

Bolton Councillor Arthur Price, who represents Westhoughton North, was left stunned by the images following the tragedy. “We firmly hope not to witness it once more,” he stated to the Manchester Evening News.

“It is simply unacceptable behavior, putting everyone on Market Street in danger. I’ve viewed the video, and it involves innocent people.

“A lady was trying to get over a wall in one that I observed. I must admit that we had excellent service from the cops. They quickly gained control of it.”

Dashcam footage or anybody who was there at the scene should be shared with the police by calling 0161 856 5757 and referencing log 2621-19/08/2023.
