Two days before Christmas, on Saturday, the Clarets go to Craven Cottage in an attempt to recover from their disheartening 2-0 loss to Everton.
Due to injury, Jack Cork, Aaron Ramsey, and Johann Gudmundsson were all out from the game; however, at least two of them have since recovered well.
When asked if any of the three players named above could be available to play against Fulham, Kompany responded, “We’re hopeful.”
One of those three names is less so than the others. However, we have hope.
Charlie Taylor, who received five yellow cards, is also eligible once again after completing his one-match punishment against the Toffees.
Lyle Foster’s unexpected early comeback last weekend, when he made his first appearance in ten weeks off the bench at halftime, was another encouraging development for Burnley.
Foster will not be thrown into the deep end upon his return to football after taking an indefinite sabbatical to undergo treatment for his mental health.
“I remain extremely cautious,” Kompany declared.
“As part of his rehabilitation this is just a step. His natural environment includes football and the goal is to put him back in his natural environment.
“I’m a little bit careful with that, but playing makes him happy and when he’s happy he’s able to do really good things for us.
“Obviously we don’t just rely on Lyle, but it’s good for us to have a key player back of course.”
Luca Koleosho, meanwhile, remains a long-term absentee with a serious knee injury.
