Contentious scenes from Burnley’s most recent home game

Some Liverpool supporters may be billeted in the home ends on Boxing Day, according to Burnley FC, but they have been advised to behave themselves.

It comes after contentious scenes from Burnley’s most recent home game, a 2-0 loss to Everton, in which out-of-town supporters celebrated in the home end while wearing hospitality passes.

Shortly after Everton’s two goals in the first half of the match, there was a disturbance in the upper area of the James Hargreaves Stand.

After seeing the video on social media, a number of Burnley supporters informed the team about the problem.

Children were observed to be clearly distressed by the altercation by those seated nearby, and the stewarding’s lack of response was also criticized.

After an internal investigation, the Clarets acknowledged that their protection levels were “far below” what was expected of them.

Burnley has taken action to caution any away supporters sitting in the home areas before Liverpool’s visit on Boxing Day to be “discreet”.

The Clarets stated that “hospitality areas can be mixed with home and away fans.”

“Away fans are reminded that they are guests at Turf Moor and should always treat this with courtesy, acting tactfully to cheer on their team.

“Any visitors who adversely interfere with other people’s experiences at the stadium will be asked to leave.

“Our stewards have been instructed to enforce stringent rules and to tolerate no away chanting at the home end.

The club of the visiting team will be contacted and fans who are removed may be banned from the stadium.

“Stadium admission refusal or ejection from the stadium may occur from fans openly donning the away team’s colors or displaying any merchandise associated with the away team.”

However, the Clarets announced that Liverpool fans would not be allowed to sit in general admission sections. The club stated, “Home match tickets are for use by club supporters only.”

“Your ticket may be cancelled and you will not be reimbursed for any costs associated with your purchase if it is discovered that you are a fan of a visiting club.”

In addition, Burnley declares that they have a “zero tolerance policy” regarding supporters that yell “abusive or offensive” things.
