I really need some answers on Smith and Lawrence

Once again, the Cowboys had a strong presence at the Pro Bowl. It almost seems like seven Pro Bowls wasn’t enough after an 11-win season. Though I’m glad for the individuals who made it in, don’t you think Jake Ferguson or another O-lineman would have been a better fit? Who was overlooked?— Rowlett, Texas’s Don McClure

Patrik: I completely agree with you on this. I wonder if “someone” simply didn’t want to have just one squad represent too much of the Pro Bowl roster? That’s just me thinking aloud, I don’t know. Regardless, it seems a bit of a mockery that Tyler Smith wasn’t selected for the Pro Bowl considering that he’s arguably one of the league’s finest guards (and offensive lineman, generally) and that it took him so little time to reach this stage of his growth.

DeMarcus Lawrence, a 2022 Pro Bowler who has repeatedly shown he is among the greatest in the game on the defensive line, is another player I would include. Though I wouldn’t consider it a snub just yet, I think Jake Ferguson is close to making it (I might in 2024, though). But I really need some answers on Smith and Lawrence.

Nick Eatman: I generally run for a couple different positions, but seven is really quite a large amount already. Guys like Tyler Smith, Tyron Smith, and even DeMarcus Lawrence are always debatable, but I don’t think I would label them as “snubs.” You could tell heading into Wednesday that the Cowboys would definitely win six.

Really, if Dak, Zack, CeeDee, Bland, Aubrey, and Micah hadn’t made it, it would have been a farce. It’s nice to have Bryan Anger return, though I wasn’t sure who else would slip in. Regarding the men who were left out, D-Law finds it difficult because there aren’t enough sacks. However, he has a significant impact on defense; the Lions game is a prime illustration.

Although Tyler Smith is similarly deserving, his number of penalties may be a slight disadvantage. He does lead the team in penalties with 13. However, I believe he will be a fantastic player and that, in the end, he will likely be selected to many Pro Bowls.
