Michigan edge rusher Jaylen Harrell announced on social media Friday afternoon that he will be forgoing his last two seasons of collegiate eligibility to declare for the NFL Draft.
“The last 4 years have been life changing, truly amazing and better than I could ever imagine,” Harrell said in the announcement. “In 4 years, I’ve attended the best university in the world, worn the mighty winged helmet and earned my degree. I’m ending my college career as a 3-time Big Ten Champion, Rose Bowl Champion and National Champion. There’s no place like Ann Arbor and The University of Michigan!”
Harrell finished his Michigan career with 11 sacks and 20 tackles for loss. He appeared in 44 games, including 31 starts. This season, he finished with 7.5 sacks, which was tied for third-most in the conference. He was an All-Big Ten honorable mention the last two years, both seasons where he was a full-time starter.
The senior pass rusher redshirted his freshman year and had a COVID year of eligibility remaining, but he decided now was the time to head to the next level as a champion:

We’ve fought side by side through the ups and downs; I’m truly grateful for the lasting bonds we’ve forged over the past 4 years,” he said in his announcement. “We helped build something special. As a team, we forged an unbreakable bond that will last a lifetime. My brothers for life! We made history as a family, an undefeated 15-0 season and national champs!”
At 6-foot-4, 242 pounds, Harrell will be a coveted pass rusher at the next level. He joins offensive linemen LaDarius Henderson and Zak Zinter, along with linebacker Junior Colson as the Michigan Wolverines who have declared for the 2024 NFL Draft to this point.
