Before the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams’ camp sent a clear message to Ryan Poles, general manager of the Chicago Bears. Colin Cowherd, presenter of a radio talk program, claimed on Thursday that Williams had no desire to play for the Bears. Williams has now made this request.
As Connor Downs and GH previously reported, Cowherd stated that Williams might want to visit the Washington Commanders:
“It’s plausible, in my opinion, that Washington trades up and Chicago permits it. Williams is from the Washington, D.C., area, and he and his group do not want to travel to Chicago. Dan Quinn is thought of, I believe. You have to acknowledge that Caleb Williams’ main worry is where you land. Star quarterback development has never occurred in Chicago.
Cowherd’s conjectures must have offended Williams since the sports shock jock corrected himself on Friday.Per Horrible Announcement:
“So, the Caleb Williams camp called me and said, ‘Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa, Colin. We do not wish to be characterized as anti-Chicago or anti-Bear supporters.
“Listen, we don’t want to go to a city that doesn’t care,” they made it very evident to me. Chicago is large, boisterous, and fervent; they care. Coaches are fired on a regular basis. They are concerned. We have no desire to travel to some Sun Belt location where the upper deck is covered with tarp.
They also mentioned that there is a way to be successful in Chicago; it’s known as the Houston Texans. Coach of defense. two weapons. Cap area. Excellent choice. They will get another chance. Many various receivers are available [Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze]. They are free to obtain another weapon.
