Yankees Will Get Good Look at Star Prospect

It was clear that the New York Yankees needed to do something this offseason with their roster that would give them the best opportunity to chase another World Series title. Forget winning one, they haven’t even been to one since they last won the Fall Classic in 2009.

They’ve certainly been close, but the ceiling has been the American League Championship Series for the better part of a decade. The Yankees aggressively attacked this offseason, pulling off a blockbuster trade for Juan Soto, making a deal with their rival Boston Red Sox for Alex Verdugo, and signing Marcus Stroman to bring another star into their rotation. Those moves certainly improves the roster, but New York is still looking for another splash.

They were linked to additional blockbuster trades to acquire Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease and Milwaukee Brewers former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes.

However, none of those trades got done because the Yankees didn’t want to part with their top prospect Spencer Jones. New York will get a good look at the 22-year-old outfielder during Spring Training as he’s one of the non-roster invites who will be the with the team.
