The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive staff has been gutted from the 2023 season. It started with offensive coordinator Dave Canales accepting the head coach position for the Carolina Panthers. Bucs run game coordinator and interior offensive line coach Harold Goodwin and offensive line coach Joe Gilbert joined him after their contacts expired. And wide receivers coach Brad Idzik joined Canales as his new offensive coordinator in Carolina.
Now the Bucs are losing another piece of their offensive staff as Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported assistant coach David Raih has joined the Washington Commanders staff as their tight ends coach.
The move reunites the veteran coach with Kliff Kingsbury, the Commanders’ new offensive coordinator. The pair spent time together in Arizona when Kingsbury was the head coach. Prior to that, he spent five years as a coach with the Packers and was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach for Vanderbilt in 2021.
Raih might not be a household name from last year’s Bucs staff but was an integral part behind the scenes for Canales in 2023. He served up in the booth for the first time offensive coordinator and would give him the coverages he was seeing and relay other information throughout the game. On top of those responsibilities he also worked closely with Idzik coaching the wide receivers as well.
