Ashley Barnes on coming to terms with Burnley exit and his sole Norwich City aim

For Ashley Barnes, the end of an era at Burnley wasn’t something that took him by surprise.

But that’s not to say the prospect of starting anew in the twilight years of his career wasn’t a daunting one for somebody who has generally been the exception to football’s chop-and-change culture.

The 34-year-old striker spent almost a decade at Turf Moor before joining Norwich City on a Bosman free transfer in the summer. Prior to that that he spent four years at Brighton.

And while he acknowledges how fortunate he’s been to avoid uprooting his family in the past, the challenges of embarking on a new challenge at the tail-end of his career have still been keenly felt.
