Although neither of the two has had much of an influence at Forest, one player seems to have been a total bust since joining the team in the summer of 2022.

DJesse Lingard was one of 23 new players that joined the City Ground in the summer of 2022, with the former Manchester United player likely having the greatest profile.
West Ham United and other teams expressed interest in signing Lingard, but the club rebuffed them, with the attacker saying that Forest’s “love” for him was the reason he wanted to depart.Lingard signed a one-year contract with the team, but the forward didn’t leave a lasting impact Midlands East. During the 2022–2023 season, he only made 20 appearances across all competitions, following an injury-plagued year in which he missed significant time.During his time in Nottingham, he scored twice; the goals came in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers.

The deal to bring Lingard to the City Ground saw the club pay the forward a reported £115k-per-week – the highest salary of anyone within the Forest squad at the time.
During Lingard’s time at the City Ground, the club had to fork out £6m in wages over an annual period for the former Manchester United man – a staggering amount of money for a player who only scored twice during his 12-month spell at the club. It also means that he cost a rather alarming £3m per goal he scored.His weekly wage of £115k is £35k-per-week more than the current second-being penalized points for violating the FFP regulations of the Premier League.Despite Lingard’s stellar past performance in the Premier League (he made over 180 appearances), the transfer was a financial disaster for Forest, since the player came to the team full of promise from his time in England’s top division.The forward, who was released in June of last year, remained without a club until February of this year. The now 31-year-old signed a contract with South Korean team Seoul that would continue until the end of 2025, which is a prime example of how far he’s come in recent seasons.
