24 League One players at risk of two-match bans – including key Portsmouth

The new boy from Pompey After just five games in his Fratton Park career, Owen Moxon is already treading carefully when it comes to discipline.

In the meantime, as the Blues get closer to the 37-game point in their League One campaign, teammate Jack Sparkes must exercise caution as well.

.That is the cut-off time for receiving 10 yellow cards in the third-tier season, which entails an automatic two-match suspension. After 35 games played thus far this season, both players have eight bookings under their belts. Furthermore, midfielder Moxon, who moved from Carlisle on transfer deadline day in January, has not yet received a booking for Pompey. He arrived on the south coast with a number of yellow cards, which puts him at risk of suspension as the season’s amnesty period and business end draw near.

The Fratton Park team, who have had numerous injuries this season, would be severely harmed by any suspension for him or Sparkes. In fact, Marlon Pack would be Pompey’s only available central midfielder if midfielder Moxon received a booking in the team’s next matches against Oxford and Blackpool.

For that reason, if Moxon and Sparkes are asked to play in the next two games, they should both exercise caution. However, throughout the next few match days, players from League One will not be the only ones who must walk the tightrope. These are the remaining “bad boys” in the division, who could receive 10 yellow cards and a suspension before the 37-game cutoff.

Note: A player will automatically receive a three-match suspension if they receive 15 bookings before the end of the season. Players like Josh Vela (Fleetwood -12), George Thomason (Bolton -11), Jordan Brown (Leyton Orient – 10) and Sean Clare (Wigan – 10) have already racked up 10 bookings for the season.
