Bad news for Madrid; Biggest scandal in recent years

The biggest scandal in recent memory, according to Real Madrid, is referee Jesus Gil Manzano’s decision to blow his whistle for full time before it reached Jude Bellingham’s head, seemingly surpassing the Negreira corruption inquiry.

According to Marca, Real Madrid feels that their tactic of pressing referees is justified and that their rage has not subsided internally during the past 36 hours. Even though they are aware that “nothing can close the wound,” they will nonetheless speak out against what they see as unfair treatment. Their goal is to compel a significant alteration in the body that officiates games after what they believe to be an iconic event.

Real Madrid believes this is proof of the Referees Committee’s (CTA) ineptitude or unfair treatment of Los Blancos, since the CTA had maintained confidence in Gil Manzano’s ability as one of their top referees. Their cries won’t go away whether Gil Manzano is dropped or “put in the fridge” for a week.

This occurs one week after Real Madrid TV, which has been pressing referees with weekly hit pieces on the specific officials, was the subject of a formal complaint from Sevilla. This has been a recurring theme this season and has angered rival teams, but the White House sees the Mestalla occurrences as further incentive and rationale to keep up the public pressure on referees.

Naturally, Malaga’s set piece goal in 2017 was made possible by Gil Manzano’s decision to sound the halftime whistle, which benefited Real Madrid. The draw against Valencia on Saturday night appears to be fueling the public conflict between the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the most influential football organization in Spain.
