Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid’s Copa del Rey semifinal second leg at San Mames was postponed by over thirty minutes on Thursday due to an illness among the spectators. The very sad news that the person in issue has passed away has now been confirmed by the Basque club.
Athletic is going through a desperate and depressing phase, and it has somewhat dulled the glory of their run to the championship. The team got ready for the family of the recently deceased Miguel Ocio to leave flowers on his seat as a memorial before their next home game, which was against Barcelona on Sunday.
The act was met with a wave of acclaim from the whole San Mames community for Ocio, who had been an Athletic Club member for more than 40 years. In his honor, Ernesto Valverde and his team will aim to win the match against Barcelona.
