A few NFL teams have contacted the Kansas City Chiefs regarding a trade for cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, including the Minnesota Vikings.
On Tuesday, March 5, Tyler Dragon of USA Today revealed the information.
The Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, and Jacksonville Jaguars have all shown interest in the Chiefs corner, according to a person with firsthand knowledge of the issue who spoke with USA Today Sports.
Chiefs Used Franchise Tag on L’Jarius Sneed, Will Still Allow Him to Seek Trade
Dragon’s story was released on the same day that Sneed was formally assigned a franchise tag by the Chiefs, a move that will pay the cornerback just under $20 million in 2024. The 27-year-old defender from Kansas City is free to look for a trade with a team that will allow them to sign him to a multiyear contract this summer.
“Until the NFL trade deadline to part ways via trade, or until mid-July to finalize a long-term extension,” Dragon wrote. “One of the NFL’s top zone cover cornerback is Need. Next Gen Stats indicates that in 2023, Sneed’s zone coverage allowed a league-low four yards per target and no touchdowns.
Sneed was selected in the fourth round by Pro Football Reference in 2020 after being selected out of Louisiana Tech. In his four years in the league, he has recorded 40 pass breakups, 19 tackles for loss, 10 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles.
With the Chiefs going to three Super Bowls, including back-to-back title runs in 2022 and 2023, Sneed has been a crucial part of the defense.
