Willie Gay Jr., a linebacker, is joining the Saints.
According to Nick Underhill of neworleans.football, Gay is departing the Chiefs for a one-year contract worth $3 million on base and a possible $5 million in bonus money.
When Kansas City won back-to-back titles the previous two seasons, Gay, 26, was a vital member of the Chiefs’ defense.
Gay recorded 233 tackles, five sacks, four interceptions, 19 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in the four seasons following Kansas City’s second-round selection of him.
Over the previous two seasons, he started 28 games and played 1,232 defensive snaps.
