This NFL offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders will be going through a lot of changes. To encircle Maxx Crosby, they have a more robust defensive core. Antonio Pierce has been formally appointed by the team as their new head coach. However, it appears that Mark Davis’s ownership is experiencing some issues. Tom Brady was supposed to be one of the owners, but those plans are expected to take a serious hit.
The finance committee is worried that Tom Brady is trying to sell his 10% minority stake in the Raiders at a lower price than what is fair, but Brady is still trying to get it. The former quarterback for the New England Patriots continued to pursue a deal with Mark Davis in spite of this. The retiring legend agreed to put $175 million in the deal. The annual NFL meeting will now receive the bid, but here’s where the obstacle lies. According to Reuters, it is anticipated that Tom Brady’s ownership proposal won’t be put to a vote at that point, causing a significant delay.
More than this, the majority of NFL front office personnel continue to disagree over Mark Davis’ apparent large discount to Tom Brady. His $175 million investment is insignificant compared to the Raiders’ worth. The August value was approximately $6.2 billion. This number is increasing every minute and should rise in value if the squad managed by Maxx Crosby improves and wins more games in the upcoming campaign.
Brady’s Raiders ownership put into question
The other huge concern for Brady is his current job. He was just recently hired by Fox to be an NFL analyst for the next 10 years. His contract is valued at $375 million and starts during the 2024-25 regular season campaign. This creates a conflict of interest. It is because he will be part of the broadcasting team while also being an owner of the Raiders.
With Fox, Brady will be able to see all the team facilities and practice fields. He might also be able to see some practices such that he is able to carry out his analyst job well. All of which would be a big advantage for the Raiders if Brady chooses to disclose this information. Moreover, he is one of the greatest football minds which makes processing schemes quite faster as well. This will certainly be a big concern if the NFL chooses to vote on his minority ownership.
This is not the only ownership pursuit that Brady has within the area. Along with Davis, he is already a part-owner of the Las Vegas Aces. Their team just became the most recent WNBA champions with superstars like Kelsey Plum, Candace Parker, and A’ja Wilson. He also has some degree of ownership with Birmingham City. Another big pursuit of his investment was a partnership with Kim Clijsters. The two together with Knighthead Capital Management are set to own a Major League Pickleball expansion team.
