Scottish football team Celtic Football Club has strong ties to Ireland. With a legendary history of athletic success, the club is currently among the most well-known sporting organizations in the world. The team has set a world record eight domestic Trebles, been named Scottish Champions 53 times, and won cups in Scotland 62 times. Celtic was the first British club to win the European Cup (now known as the Champions League) in 1967.

Brother Walfrid, an Irish Catholic priest, was the main creator of the organization, which was established in 1888 for humanitarian purposes. The club’s initial goal was to gather money to buy food for the underprivileged kids in Glasgow’s East End, a neighborhood with a sizable Irish population. From modest beginnings, Celtic has grown to become one of the biggest names in sports, all the while upholding its strong social conscience by running one of the most effective fundraising campaigns and completing worthwhile projects that help the underprivileged.

“Everyone at Celtic is delighted to be visiting the United States again, particularly for such an exciting pre-season program, and we are really looking forward to meeting Chelsea at Notre Dame,” said Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

“I am excited to see Mauricio and his team again in July for what I know will be an amazing occasion between two major European clubs. I know Mauricio well.”

“Pre-season training is always crucial, and we know Chelsea will provide us with a formidable and thrilling challenge.”

“We truly look forward to seeing our fans there. We are so fortunate to have such strong support from all over the world, but especially here in the United States, so we know that our visit will give our fans a fantastic opportunity to see the team in action.”

“We are certain that the home of the “Fighting Irish” will generate enormous support for Celtic and inspire a great sporting occasion. Playing at the renowned and iconic University of Notre Dame at such a fantastic venue will be a unique moment for the club.”

The game brings soccer from around the world back to Notre Dame Stadium. In front of 40,361 spectators, Borussia Dortmund defeated Liverpool 3-2 in July 2019.

Pete Bevacqua, the incoming vice president and James E. Rohr director of athletics at Notre Dame, said, “We are thrilled to be able to welcome Chelsea and Celtic to Notre Dame Stadium this summer.” “It’s remarkable that Celtic decided to play at Notre Dame on their first domestic trip in more than ten years, and it will be an incredible experience to play with six-time EPL winner Chelsea. I can’t wait for sports enthusiasts from all around the world to come to South Bend and experience Notre Dame while supporting their teams.
