Round 7 positional rankings and Pick’em advice

If you didn’t qualify for the Fantasy Champions League in the first qualifying period, the slate is wiped clean as Round 7 of MLS Fantasy also marks the start of the second qualifying period.

The top 50 entrants through Rounds 7-12 advance to compete for big prizes and fantasy glory in the Fantasy Champions League final round at the end of the season. Let’s get right into it and look at the top plays and values to help your side compete for an FCL spot.

Goalkeepers

Yes, I do have the top selection and top value pick goalkeepers from the two remaining winless teams in the Major League Soccer rankings, but bear with me. This round, there aren’t many GKs that jump off the page for a clean sheet, so it’s the ideal opportunity to use the “Keeperoo” strategy. This weekend, I think at least one of Seattle or New England will win for the first time, and it might even result in a clean sheet.

Redpath’s Recs: Keeperoo

Here’s how to pull off the Keeperoo, which basically offers us two chances to record a blank score: As New England takes on Charlotte in the first round match at 7:30 p.m. ET, start an Orlando City goalkeeper as a stand-in for Heinrich Ravas, or Earl Edwards Jr., whichever begins, on the bench.

Orlando City is on a bye, so if the Revs win by shutout and do nothing, Ravas or Edwards Jr. will take over automatically. Stefan Frei should be substituted in if the Revs lose. Seattle’s game against Montréal begins at 10:30 p.m. ET. Just remember to keep enough money in your bank to plug Frei in in case you need it, and if you’re new, pay attention to when that match locks.
