Report; The Ohio State football rumored to be losing a Quarter Back

There are currently numerous quarterbacks on the Ohio State football team’s roster. Five of the guys on scholarship believe they should play this year, next year, or both. Unfortunately, many of these guys are dissatisfied because only one quarterback can play at a time.

Will Howard was added via the transfer site with the intention of starting this season. He did not leave Kansas State to sit on the bench; rather, he started for portions of three seasons. He still stands to benefit greatly from a successful performance in the spring game.

When the transfer site opens on Monday, there are rumors that one of the quarterbacks will be departing. Lincoln Kienholz is that quarterback. During his time in Columbus, Kienholz hasn’t played much; he only saw meaningful action in the Cotton Bowl versus Missouri.

Kienholz was a four-star prospect in Ohio State’s recruiting class and a true freshman the previous year. It’s clear that he’s still highly skilled and youthful. His issue is that he will have two more skilled younger quarterbacks behind him in addition to an older quarterback who will start this season.

If Kienholz does leave for the portal, I can’t blame him. Kienholz has a chance to start somewhere else and he probably could start for a lot of other Power 4 programs. He just needs the opportunity to get some playing time and compete for a starting job. He’s not getting that with the Ohio State football program right now.

I do expect at least one of the quarterbacks to transfer once the portal opens after the Spring Game. These guys want to play and they all can’t play for the Buckeyes. Devin Brown seems committed to staying, so that might leave Kienholz as the guy to leave.
