Raiders Deal With Falcons to Land Highly-Touted QB

Although the Los Vegas Raiders haven’t yet disclosed their draft plans, it appears likely that they will take into account their quarterback possibilities. It will be tough to get into the top three, so the club might just wait and watch how the board develops.

Many people rank Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy as the fourth-best quarterback in the draft. The Raiders are expected to move up and draft McCarthy if he somehow slips to the Atlanta Falcons at No. 8. Ian Valentino of The 33rd Team makes this prediction.

In an April 11 post, Valentino stated, “The Las Vegas Raiders and Broncos might have to get creative to find their solutions at the position because they’re stuck in a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert.”

“Las Vegas doesn’t have to act completely desperate because it has Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O’Connell on the roster, but being within range of a move for J.J. McCarthy makes them trading up possible. McCarthy offers a much better physical skill set to develop than his peers on the roster.”

Moving from No. 13 to No. 8 will be much less costly than moving up into the top three. However, would the Raiders want to move up to take the fourth-best quarterback in the draft? That remains to be seen.
