Good afternoon Terriers,

It brings me incredible pride and joy to be writing my first programme notes as Chairman of this special football club, and I’d like to begin by thanking you all for such a warm welcome over these past few months.

As you no doubt already know, it has been a whirlwind period from first learning about Huddersfield Town to now becoming the latest custodian of the Club, and despite that I could not be filled with more excitement, positivity and enthusiasm for the future.

Time has allowed me the chance to get to know you supporters better, and learn more about this storied club – to be involved during this moment in time as we look back on those immortal achievements from a century ago isn’t lost on me, and it helps underlines what is possible when you embrace what being a Terrier is all about.

As well as your overwhelming support – something I’ve been privileged to witness in person toward the end of last season and again just this week at both Plymouth and here against Middlesbrough in the week – what gives me hear is the amazing people we’ve been able to bring to Huddersfield.

That obviously starts with Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson agreeing to continue on, but the appointments of Jake Edwards as CEO and Mark Cartwright as Sporting Director gives me real faith that the day-to-day running of the Club is in the best possible hands, and I couldn’t be happier that Michael Thomas has joined me once more in joining the Board at Town, as he’s somebody with my complete trust.

While I am here, I would like to once again place on record my thanks to Dean Hoyle for his co-operation and understanding throughout the process of the Club changing hands. Both he and his wife Janet have shown me what caring for Huddersfield Town truly means, and that is something I won’t lose sight of.

Likewise, none of this would have been possible without Dave Baldwin, who I am so glad to have retained in an advisory capacity with us. Alongside both Ann Hough and David Threlfall-Sykes on our Board of Directors, it’s not just new faces who I have faith in at Town, but those who have given so much of their working lives to the Club, too.

This is just the start of what I hope will be an amazing journey for us all to take together. I can promise that, both on and off the field, we will put the Club in the best position we can to succeed. While our results can’t be guaranteed, just as this week has shown, we will never stop trying to pull in right direction as one in order to put Huddersfield Town in the sort of places we believe we belong.

Please enjoy today, enjoy the football, enjoy our new fan zone at the John Smith’s Stadium and enjoy the ride that is to come – I know I plan to.

Until the next time – Up the Town!

Kevin Nagle
Chairman, Huddersfield Town
