For the Jacksonville Jaguars and the rest of the league, the 2024 NFL Draft is now complete. It doesn’t follow that once selection No. 257 was removed from the board, the job was finished.
Teams started reaching out to players who were left undrafted free agents following the draft but who had not heard their names called during the weekend.
The three-day process resulted in the Jaguars picking nine players, and 13 undrafted players in total reached agreement terms.
For them, their path to the team’s 53-man roster will be an uphill battle. Last year, Jacksonville kept just one undrafted player on their final 53-man roster from the 2023 NFL Draft — receiver Elijah Cooks.
The only other undrafted players to remain on the roster since 2021 are receivers Cooks and Tim Jones in addition to outside linebacker/defensive lineman De’Shaan Dixon.
With the team another year into the build started by general manager Trent Baalke in 2021, it will be that much tougher for any player to make it.
Still, there are a couple of intriguing names to watch, including Appalachian State linebacker Andrew Parker Jr., receivers Joshua Cephus (UTSA) and Wayne Ruby (Mount Union) and Oregon offensive lineman Steven Jones.
Though he won’t be mentioned in this story, former Ohio State safety Josh Proctor also has a path to making the 53-man roster, but it’ll be tougher due to the team’s investment in the position this offseason.
Let’s take a look at their cases to make the roster.
