ANOTHER LOAN DEAL LOOMING FOR ORLANDO PIRATES YOUNGSTER

Next season, it appears that Orlando Pirates will once more send teenage player Cebo Mchunu out on loan.

The gifted winger was acquired by the Buccaneers from Bizana Pondo Chiefs at the start of the year, but Pretoria Callies received him on loan almost away.

Having competed in the Motsepe Foundation Championship during the season, the 22-year-old would have been looking to rejoin the team in June and challenge for a spot in Jose Riveiro’s starting lineup.

Now, though, it seems the team has made the decision to send their young star out on loan once more.

Even though he is a talented player, the team believes he hasn’t yet attained the level necessary to be a regular in the coming campaign. He will therefore be making another loan move. “He won’t be the first player to do that,” Soccer Laduma was informed by a source.

The source further went on to draw comparisons between Mchunu and Thembinkosi Lorch, who was also loaned out twice by the club during his decade-long spell at Orlando Pirates.

“Even Thembinkosi Lorch was loaned out twice before coming back to the team. Then Lorch became a regular. It helps the players to grow and gain experience. It’s good for both the player and the club, and that’s why they are loaning him out again next season,” the source added.

“They will wait for the season to finish and get the report from Pretoria Callies. First to see how he has performed this season before making the decision on where he he could be loaned to. But that’s the decision Orlando Pirates have taken to at least loan him again for one more season. Then they’ll give him the chance at the club to prove himself.”
