Unbelievable: Stoke City re-sign Wolves defender.

Stoke City are in talks to re-sign Ki-Jana Hoever on loan from Wolves, StokeonTrentLive understands.

The 21-year-old right-back showed his potential during half-a-season at the bet365 Stadium last term and his exit will be sanctioned as Wolves bring in Matt Doherty from Spurs.

It comes as Alex Neil picks up the pace in his squad building with just over a fortnight to go before the start of the Championship season. He has already brought in Enda Stevens, Michael Rose, Ben Pearson and Daniel Johnson and hopes to get a deal over the line for winger Andre Vidigal. It will be very busy behind the scenes ahead leading up to Saturday’s friendly at Derby County.

Hoever made 17 appearances for Stoke after joining in January, having spent the first half of the season at PSV Eindhoven. He scored four times and was nominated for Championship player of the month in March.

A deal has fallen through to re-sign goalkeeper Matija Sarkic but Stoke have a good relationship with Wolves, with sporting director Matt Hobbs pointing to the experience of players on loan in the Championship last season.
