Maroons hooker Harry Grant didn’t feature in Queensland’s first training session on Tuesday after reportedly feeling unwell.
The Storm star was the only player missing from the side’s first training run in Brisbane but is expected to return to the field with the team on Wednesday, as the Maroons head south for their traditional camp at Sanctuary Cove.
On the other side of the border, Blues coach Michael Maguire expects injured halfback Nicho Hynes to be able to train with the team from the first session on Wednesday as New South Wales start their camp in Katoomba.
“He had a scan [Sunday] and it looks really good. There’s no further damage,” Maguire said when asked about Hynes.
“I reckon he’ll hit the ground running on day one is, that’s what we’re working towards. We’re really confident with where he’s at, that he’ll be able to train from day one.”

The Eels will welcome back star halfback Mitchell Moses and captain Clint Gutherson for their clash with the Sharks in Round 13, with Moses to play for the first time since breaking his foot in the club’s third game of the season.
Gutherson meanwhile returns from a minor knee operation undergone after Round 8.
Penrith welcome back playmaker Brad Schneider from a knee injury two weeks ahead of schedule, with the 23-year-old set to partner Jack Cole in the halves despite the rookie failing to finish last week’s win over the Sharks with a hamstring issue.
Toby Rudolf (knee), Will Penisini (infection) and Tom Chester (hamstring) are among the other frontline players named to return this week.
The Roosters meanwhile have confirmed versatile forward Egan Butcher will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after scans revealed he ruptured his ACL during the Round 12 win over the Raiders.
Butcher, who initially tried to play on with the injury for several minutes, will have surgery ahead of Round 13 and commence rehab.
Bulldogs forward Viliame Kikau suffered a compound fracture of his ring finger in Round 12 and has undergone surgery, sidelining him for 4-6 weeks.
