Lions RB David Montgomery makes franchise history against Cowboys

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery made franchise history on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Montgomery’s tough running in the first quarter to put the Lions on the scoreboard from 16 yards out put him in Detroit’s record books, capping off an offensive drive that spanned five plays for 70 yards.

It marked Montgomery’s fifth straight game to begin the season with a touchdown in each contest, as he’s the first to ever do so in a Lions uniform. The running back also established an additional new franchise record, as he has now rushed for a touchdown for the eighth-straight game for the Lions.

Montgomery’s fifth rushing touchdown ties him for the third-most in the NFL with Washington’s Brian Robinson and Seattle’s Kenneth Walker III. Only Alvin Kamara (6) and Derrick Henry (8) have more as of Sunday.
