Collingwood make call on off-contract quartet’s future, delist duo
Reef McInnes, Lachie Sullivan, Ned Long, and Charlie Dean, the off-contract Collingwood quartet, have signed fresh one-year contracts with the Magpies, while Ash Johnson and Oleg Markov have been delisted.
Markov, Oleg. Since being selected with Pick 23 in the 2020 AFL Draft, McInnes, 21, has appeared in 20 games in the black and white. He made his debut against Geelong in his second season. This season, under coach Craig McRae, the athletic key striker played a career-high nine games and scored goals in his first seven games, returning to 12 majors. The Oakleigh Chargers graduate, who played nine games in the VFL while switching between attack and defense at the state league level, struggled to establish himself in the senior squad.
The emerging forward will enter a critical campaign next year as he looks to cement a place in McRae’s side, with Dan McStay eyeing a full season after a year mostly spent on the sidelines while the club reportedly prepares to add Tim Membrey this off-season.
