Wolves set for double transfer swoop as medicals take place

The latest Wolves transfer news as there is set to be some arrivals at Molineux between now and Friday’s deadline.

Wolves are reportedly closing in on a double swoop ahead of the deadline with forward Enso Gonzalez and defender Santiago Bueno set to undergo medicals at Molineux.

It has been a quiet window in terms of incomings at the club this summer, but new manager Gary O’Neil looks set to add to his squad in the final days of the transfer window. Two players are getting closer to joining the club.

According to Sky Sports , Paraguayan forward Enso Gonzalez is undergoing a medical. The 18-year-old can play on either wing or in an attacking midfield position, and is seen as a player for the future.

He has scored three times for Paraguayan top division club Libertad Asunción, while providing a further two assists. He has played just a total of 39 first team games but has caught the eye with his performances.

The teenager may not be the only new arrival at Molineux today. Sky Sports also report that Girona defender Bueno will have his medical with the club today.

Wolves are said to have agreed a £10 million fee with the Spanish club for the centre-back. A hamstring injury has meant that the 24-year-old missed the first two La Liga games of the season, but he was back on the bench for Saturday’s 2-1 win over Sevilla.

Bueno played a total of 36 times in all competitions last season. He joined Girona from Barcelona B back in the summer of 2019 and has played a total of 140 times for the Spanish side.

Speaking after the Carabao Cup win over Blackpool, O’Neil delivered an exciting verdict on the final days of the transfer window.

“I am excited because I am still convinced that, come the second of September, this squad will be in a better place than it was last week. I am excited for the next few days. I think we are well prepared. There has been some real good work that I have seen and I have helped with over the last couple of weeks so that we are able to do some bits and pieces and then respond if things move.”
