Blackburn Rovers Target set to arrive by weekend amid medicals

Blackburn Rovers have made a loan offer for Hertha Berlin forward Derry Scherhant, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship outfit are looking to add more firepower to their squad before Friday’s transfer deadline.

John Dahl Tomasson is keen to bring the Under-20s German international to Ewood Park for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

Rovers currently sit ninth in the Championship after winning two of their opening four games.

Academy star Harry Leonard has been leading the line for Blackburn during the opening proceedings of the season, but they are eager to add more depth to their striker department.

Championship duo Queens Park Rangers and Preston North End had also enquired about Scherhant’s availability, but Blackburn are looking to pip their rivals to his signature with a loan offer.

Premier League side Burnley have also shown interest in the young striker earlier this window.

Scherhant has made a strong start to the 2023/24 season, scoring three goals in his last four games for Hertha’s second team.

He made his breakthrough to the first team last season, making 10 Bundesliga appearances and scoring once in a 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

Despite making occasional cameos with the first team last season, Scherhant is yet to appear for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga this season.

He was named on the bench for their DFB Pokal match earlier this month but has failed to make any other matchday squad for Hertha this season.
