LaLiga side Cadiz are weighing up a move for Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin late in the transfer window, according to El Desmarque.
The Spanish publication posted on its website on Wednesday [30 August] that Gbamin is one of several options being considered by Cadiz ahead of the deadline on Friday [1 September].
The report adds that Gbamin is considered an attainable target for Cadiz as Everton are looking to offload the 27-year-old.
Goodbye Gbamin
Many Everton supporters can be forgiven for forgetting Gbamin is even still on the club’s books.
The Ivory Coast international has had a torrid time of things since joining from Mainz in a fairly sizable £25million deal four years ago.
Gbamin has appeared just eight times for Everton during that time, owing to major injury issues and spells out on loan.
After playing 13 times for CSKA Moscow in the second half of 2021-22, and 24 times for Trabzonspor last season, Gbamin is back at Goodison.
It is quite clear that he does not feature in Sean Dyche’s plans, though, having yet to appear in a matchday squad this campaign.
Given Gbamin is out of contract at the end of the season, Everton could ideally do with recouping any sort of transfer fee for the outcast midfielder.
But that seems unlikely at this late stage in the window, and a loan move away now seems the best bet to see out his nightmare Merseyside stint.
As far as Everton careers go, they do not get much more underwhelming than this.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have reportedly tabled an offer for a defender from one of their Premier League rivals.
