FIRST INTERVIEW: Having signed on deadline day for Ipswich Town!

Having signed on deadline day, Sam Cosgrove gave us his thoughts after arriving from Birmingham City!

“I’m over the moon to be here. Ecstatic. It’s a move that’s been many weeks in the making, and I’m delighted to finally be here and can’t wait to get going now.”

The 26-year-old striker spent last season in this division on loan at eventual champions, Plymouth Argyle, scoring 12 goals in 18 starts across all competitions, whilst also being used from the bench to good effect, most notably when Argyle came from behind to beat Derby County at Pride Park with Cosgrove grabbing a game-winning brace.

His two-and-a-half year stay with Birmingham saw him start just two games and spells on loan with Wimbledon and Shrewsbury Town – as well as his time in Plymouth – mean that the former Aberdeen forward is finally happy to have found a more permanent home in the shape of Oakwell.

“I’ve been in this league for the last few seasons and it’s been a tough learning curve at times.” Sam told iFollow Barnsley.

“But last season was probably the best year of my life.

“To get promoted like we did was obviously a huge success and that feeling of getting promoted is something I want to replicate here with Barnsley.

“I was very keen to make this a permanent move. As a footballer it’s not imperative, but it is nice to have a home. My aim is to make this place my home, and not just for the next couple of years but going beyond that as well.”
