Coventry City manager praises new addition who has “got everything”

After their victory this past weekend against QPR, Coventry City manager Mark Robins had all praise for Ellis Simms.
In a 3-1 victory over the R’s, Coventry City’s striker scored twice. Over the summer, the Sky Blues swooped in to sign him.

Simms, 22, has so far had to practise patience in his goal-seeking process. He will be hoping that his victory over the Hoops will boost his confidence at this point.

According to Robins, “He’s got high potential and he’s definitely not the finished article,” as quoted by CoventryLive. He scored an extremely fantastic goal for Everton last season against Chelsea.

He is incredibly capable and has everything. Additionally, there are instances when it’s just a matter of becoming familiar with the game and feeling at ease with how he plays, rather than attempting to mould him into the person you want him to be. Instead, work within his comfort zone and capabilities while pushing him to improve and do things he wouldn’t otherwise.

But confidence and experience are both necessary for it.

Coventry man gains more self-assurance
After Viktor Gyokeres left for Sporting Lisbon in the most recent transfer window, Simms had large shoes to fill at Coventry.

Before signing with former club Everton as a youth in 2017, he had contracts with Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers. The Oldham-born player later played 12 times for the Toffees’ first squad and contributed one goal.

For loan stints at Blackpool, Hearts, and Sunderland, the forward departed Goodison Park to gain experience. In the previous season, he was popular with them and scored seven goals in 17 games before being summoned back.

It has taken him some time to settle in at Coventry after Everton made the decision to cash in on him in July. But yesterday was a significant day for him, and he will now be attempting to build on it.

Prior to taking on Norwich City at home on Saturday, Robins’ team will play Blackburn Rovers at home on Wednesday.
