player reveals scan decision amid injury update on key Coventry City

Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive, as the Sky Blues’ manager delivers an update on Liam Kelly’s hamstring issue.

Mark Robins, manager of Coventry City, has received some hopeful news after Liam Kelly stated that his hamstring injury is not “major.” The Sky Blues captain went off midway through the first half against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night with a hamstring rupture, which can result in several weeks, if not months, on the sidelines.

However, the captain has downplayed the issue to the point where he has avoided a scan that would provide a more exact diagnostic of the extent of the tear and is instead focusing on physiotherapy. When asked for an update on his injury, which keeps him out of Saturday’s CBS Arena game against Norwich,

“Well, he feels it’s not a big deal,” Robins said of City. We’re merely treating the symptoms and waiting to see what happens, but I believe we’ll learn more in the following days.

“He’ll be in next week, and it’ll be assessed consistently, and then we’ll see when he’s ready to start building it back up.” But, in the first case, I believe he is relieved that there isn’t a huge problem.”

When asked if he could give a timetable for his recuperation, the manager said, “Well, he’s not being scanned.” He does not want to get a scan, thus he prefers that the injury be handled as it is. This is great. At the end of the day, you can scan people and get a definitive picture, but he wants to treat the damage and symptoms and then hopefully return.

“He’ll come back whenever he’s ready.” However, it is less well-known. And now we have to wait and watch when that heals. Everyone is different, so we’ll have to see when we can get him back, but it’s really just a matter of working through the healing process.”

When asked if Kasey Palmer (adductor) or Milan van Ewijk (quad) will be available to play against Norwich this weekend, Robins replied, “I don’t know is the honest answer right now.” As I usually say, we have to train today to ensure that everyone comes through uninjured, and then

I can look at what the score is and how they look after training, but we still have some work to do because yesterday was a recuperation day. We have to try to get them to recover, and obviously today we’ll be putting the finishing touches on the game preparation.”
