The Wests Tigers 2023 season appears to be going from bad to worse, with confirmation that one star’s season is all but ended and another will have a lengthy layoff.
Brent Naden and Adam Doueihi were both injured within minutes of each other as the Tigers attempted to build a comeback against the Eels, but fell short 28-22.
Naden was the first to go down with a probable broken collarbone, sustained just after scoring the Tigers’ third goal of the day.

Naden was seen holding his shoulder shortly after scoring, with replays showing him landing forcefully on it.
Only minutes later, the Tigers’ injury difficulties were exacerbated by a horrific incident.
Doueihi made a terrific take off a short Clint Gutherson dropout as the Eels’ comeback charge was in full flow. As he landed, however, something in his left knee could be seen giving way.

Half of the Tigers fell to the ground and had to be assisted off the field. After the game, coach Tim Sheens said that club doctors suspected a second ACL damage.
Doueihi’s 2018 season at South Sydney was cut short by an ACL injury to the same knee, as was his 2021 season.

“Not a good day for us in that regard,” Tim Sheens admitted after the game.
Former Tiger Mitch Moses virtually single-handedly guided the Eels to victory, kicking three tries and setting up a fourth on the wing with a long ball to Maika Sivo.
“Three kicks, his goal kicking – hitting the posts and going in all that stuff.” “When it’s your day, it’s your day,” Sheens explained.
