Rangers’key man pulls out of the Scotland squad, raising the possibility of an injury.

Ryan Jack withdraws from the Scotland team in anticipation of a possible injury absence for Rangers.

The last two games between the Gers and Aris Limassol and St Mirren were missed by the midfielder.
Due to an injury, Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack is unable to travel with Scotland for Thursday’s pivotal Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain in Seville.

The former Aberdeen player, Jack, was one of 24 senior players head coach Steve Clarke called up to the most recent international camp last week for future matches against Luis de la Fuente’s side and the friendly with France in Lille next Tuesday, but he won’t be playing.

Jack was absent from the Ibrox team’s lineup for both the 2-1 Europa League loss to Aris Limassol in Cyprus on Thursday and the 3-0 Premiership victory against St. Mirren on Sunday in Paisley.

The 31-year-old, who has so far earned 16 national team appearances and made his Pittodrie debut against the Netherlands in 2017, has since withdrew from the pool. Given his problematic injury history, the revelation will cause his club serious anxiety.

The defeat to Jack’s former club Aberdeen last Saturday at Ibrox was the last straw for Michael Beale, the manager who had been under fire. Jack was replaced at halftime. He was removed without explanation, and it is unclear how long he will be out of commission.

For the first match following the break, at home against Hibernian on October 21, Rangers are set to have a new permanent manager in place. Jack’s future in Govan will undoubtedly be discussed as a result of Beale’s decision to extend his contract by one year earlier this summer.
