SO SAD: Detroit Lions Week 3 injury designations a key player was taken to hospital for neck injury….

OL Chandler Zavala of the Panthers was carted off the field and to the hospital due to a neck injury.

Chandler Zavala, an offensive lineman for the Carolina Panthers, was helped off the field during the first quarter of Sunday’s Ford Field game against the Detroit Lions.

Zavala lined up against Isaiah Buggs, the defensive end for the Lions, on what appeared to be an ordinary play. The novice collapsed onto his stomach and did not get back up. While receiving care from athletic trainers, he lay on the field. His teammates surrounded him after clearing the sideline.

Zavala was placed on the backboard of a stretcher cart that was brought to the field. Zavala gave the audience a thumbs up as he was driven off, to enthusiastic applause.

According to Panthers senior writer Darin Gantt, Zavala was brought to a nearby hospital for a neck injury evaluation.
