The first quarter of the Phoenix Suns’ Wednesday night home loss to the Utah Jazz saw guard Devin Booker sprain his ankle.
After only eight minutes of play in the first quarter, Booker left the game after landing awkwardly on his left ankle while jumping to receive a pass.
He finished with eight points on three of four shots, and the Suns announced he would not be coming back.
This season, Booker has averaged a team-best and career-high 26.9 points per game. Most recently, during a three-game stretch during the last week of March, he averaged 52.3 points per game.
Due to injuries, the Suns were without five of their best players: guard Tyler Johnson, center Deandre Ayton, forwards Kelly Oubre Jr. and T.J. Warren, and forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
Due to these injuries, the playoff-bound Jazz defeated the Suns 118-97, with 29 points from Donovan Mitchell.
