The left back was substituted early in the Rangers victory over Hibs. Borna Barisic is expected to be absent from Thursday night’s match against Sparta Prague due to an early injury sustained against Hibs over the weekend.
With Ridvan Yilmaz left off of the squad by former manager Michael Beale, Philippe Clement is extremely concerned as he now has no established left back available for the match. Dujon Sterling did not play in the B team game on Sunday, but he might be a viable option if he is healthy. On Saturday, he was also not included in the squad. Ben Davies, a natural center back, is an additional option. Young player Adam Devine might be called up for his first game of the season.
But with neither of his two first-choice left backs available for the match, Clement will have to make a difficult decision about who plays in that position and will have to use a player who is not in their natural position. Rangers’ attempt to advance to the next round of the Europa League will depend greatly on the outcome of the trip to Prague.
