Joe Burrow, the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, was helped off the practice field on Thursday after hobbling up from a scramble.

Burrow and the Bengals are currently in negotiations for a long-term deal that would put him in the running for one of the highest salaries in the NFL.

After his first three NFL training camps were interrupted, Burrow spoke on Wednesday about how good he felt at the start of camp and his hopes to play in some preseason games.

In 2020, Burrow’s rookie year, preseason practice was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was still recovering in 2021 following knee surgery in December of the previous year. This past year, he had appendicitis on the first day of camp.

A calf injury was later reported by coach Zac Taylor. Burrow emerged with a limp, despite having on a sleeve.

As the Pro Bowl quarterback was being attended to by trainers and assisted onto a cart, a few teammates congregated nearby.

When asked about Burrow’s use of the sleeve on his right calf, Taylor responded, “Sometimes players feel a little sore after the first day.”

Inside the locker room, center Ted Karras remarked, “I’m not the expert here, but my gut says Joe will be OK.”

Defensive end Sam Hubbard stated, “I know about calf strains all too well, and they are painful but aren’t the end of the world. I’m not going to talk about another player’s injuries.” They do linger for a while, but I believe Joe and the training staff will act appropriately, take care of this early in camp, and be prepared to go.

He remarked, “I feel like I need to get better and I don’t want to waste any of these days in my position.” “Over the past two years, I’ve lost enough days due to injuries, appendicitis, and Covid-19 the year before.” I don’t want to leave camp thinking that I could have improved for another seven days.
