Tua Tagovailoa, quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, was transported off the field on a stretcher after suffering head and neck injuries in Thursday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
According to the Dolphins’ official Twitter account, the 24-year-old athlete was subsequently escorted to the hospital for a comprehensive checkup.
Later, the club said on Twitter that Tagovailoa was “expected to be discharged from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and will fly home with the team tonight.”
According to the New York Post, Tagovailoa was injured in the second quarter of the game when his head was smacked onto the ground after a tackle by Bengals’ Josh Tapou. Tagovailoa immediately gripped his arms, and medical assistance was summoned.
According to ESPN, he lay motionless on the field for around 10 minutes before being carried away in a stretcher.

The Dolphins provided an update on the quarterback’s health before halftime, saying he was conscious and had “movement in all his extremities” at the hospital.

McDaniel, 39, went on. “His teammates and myself were very concerned, but he got checked out and it’s nothing more serious than a concussion.”
