Sad news for Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage is likely to be released from the hospital.
TAMPA — After being hurt in Monday night’s playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage “has had movement in all extremities,” the organization reported Tuesday morning.

Gage was slated to leave the hospital this afternoon, according to coach Todd Bowles on Tuesday.

Gage was hit across the neck on a second-down play with 2:55 left in the game. He attempted to stand on his own but was unable to and was treated on the field before being transferred to a hospital.

While medical workers treated to Gage, players from both teams took a knee and prayed. Before the game restarted, Tom Brady, who delivered the pass to Gage, stood near the medical crew.

The Buccaneers were defeated 31-14 by the Cowboys, thereby ending their season.

The immediate uncertainty surrounding Gage’s injury sparked an outpouring of support on social media.

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, an ESPN analyst, posted on Twitter: “Prayers up for Russell Gage.”

Gage Jr. responded to the support Tuesday afternoon and gave a personal update on his injury tweeting, “I just wanted to let you all know that I’m doing great and in great spirits! Thank you!”
