Rotherham United sacked Matt Taylor last weekend after losing 5-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road
Former Leeds United boss Steve Evans is not currently being considered for the managerial vacancy at Rotherham United. That’s according to the Rotherham Advertiser, who claim Evans has fallen out of the running for the job with the Millers pursuing over targets ahead of next Friday’s clash against the Whites in the Championship.
Rotherham, who currently sit 22nd in the Championship table, four points adrift of safety, made the decision to part ways with manager Matt Taylor following the club’s 5-0 defeat to Watford last weekend. As such, unless an appointment is made in the meantime, it seems Rotherham could have interim boss Wayne Carlisle in the dugout next week when they host high flying Leeds.
The hunt for a new manager is well and truly on with the likes of Gary Rowett and Leam Richardson being spoken about, but whoever the Millers hire, it is unlikely to be Evans. Reports earlier in the week suggested that the 61-year-old, who is currently in charge at Stevenage in League One, was being considered as a potential candidate for the job in South Yorkshire.

Evans spent three years with Rotherham before joining Leeds back in 2015 and he is still highly thought of at the club having won two promotions. However, the strugglers are now looking at other options with more experience of managing in the Championship, something Evans hasn’t done since he left the Whites in May 2016
“I am looking for established Championship managers who have ‘done it’,” Tony Stewart, the Rotherham chairman, said as per the Advertiser. “The quality is that good.
