Dele Alli has been tipped to make a comeback for Everton.
That’s according to former MK Dons manager Karl Robinson, who has remained in contact with the midfielder since he joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.
Dele’s dramatic decline in form over the last few years was all explained when the 27-year-old took part in an interview with Gary Neville for The Overlap’s YouTube channel.
Dele opened up on his past and his addiction to sleeping pills, while he also revealed that he had recently been in a mental health facility in the United States.
With the Everton midfielder admitting that he hoped to be given another chance this season, Robinson has claimed that his former player could be ready to ‘go again’ once he returns from injury.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Robinson said: “The decision Dele made go on his own and keep that to himself when everyone around was speaking and criticising. The bravery he showed to himself and to go and take that risk and then to come back and do the interview and to be open and transparent.
“The place he’s in right now, he seems to be in a good place. The fact he’s injured might not be a bad thing – he’s still got that time to get ready and go again.”
When will Dele Alli be back for Everton?
Dele Alli was ruled out of the season in April after suffering a hip muscle injury whilst out on loan with Besiktas.
The midfielder was scheduled to be out for 2-3 months after undergoing surgery, while he was spotted in training with Everton after his interview with Gary Neville was released.
While Dele is back on the grass at Finch Farm, he is yet to feature in a pre-season friendly for Toffees. With only their clash against Sporting Lisbon left before the Premier League kicks off again, it seems unlikely that the former England international will be ready to play against Fulham next week.
