bad news for vegas coach…

Marcus Peters, the Raiders’ veteran cornerback, has been released after 12 games.

Marcus Peters, who was benched on Sunday, will leave Las Vegas on Monday.

Peters, who sat out the majority of the Las Vegas Raiders’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, has been released by the team, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. On Monday, Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce announced Peters’ release, as well as the release of safety Roderic Teamer, who was arrested on DUI charges Saturday night.

Peters, 30, was benched midway through the second quarter after a botched tackle and was seen exchanging words with Pierce on the sideline.

After the game, Pierce said it was a “coach’s decision” as to why Peters, who played just 20 snaps, did not return, but he did not elaborate.

Monday’s decision to part ways with Peters speaks volumes though.

The three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro has struggled this season, in particular with run defense. Peters will be on the lookout to potentially join a fifth career club, having previously played with the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens.

In 12 starts this season for the Raiders, Peters has 43 tackles, five pass breakups and one interception, which he returned for a 75-yard touchdown against the Detroit Lions.
