Oklahoma Sooners Football: Update on National Signing Day

Oklahoma Sooners football recruiting signing day live updates as Brent Venables inks the 2024 class at the start of the early signing period.

NORMAN — Oklahoma teased it as the start of “a new chapter in the storied history” of the Sooners program. Now, that time has arrived.

That’s right, it’s National Signing Day. Recruits in the 2024 class can begin signing and sending in their National Letters of Intent as the early signing period kicks off Wednesday. For Oklahoma, that means securing the signatures and officially welcoming most of its 2024 class — the program’s first recruiting class as it makes the move from the Big 12 to the SEC this offseason.

Brent Venables and his team head into Wednesday with the nation’s seventh-ranked class, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings, with the 13th-highest average rating per commit (90.74). The Sooners hold commitments from 28 players, as well as multiple other preferred walk-ons and a transfer class that consists of five commits. When factoring in the transfer portal haul, Oklahoma’s overall recruiting class is ranked 10th nationally, according to 247Sports.

Oklahoma anticipates nearly all of its 2024 commits to be signed by the end of the day Wednesday, with composite four-star edge Danny Okoye putting pen to paper on Thursday.

As signatures roll in throughout the day, Sooners Illustrated will keep you up to date on all the latest happenings for OU football’s 2024 recruiting class in the space below as Venables looks to shore up yet another top-10 class for the Sooners.
