Blackburn Roevrs are in need of more new additions but question marks surround their current position in the transfer market.
The summer started promisingly for Rovers with some quick business done but it has gone quiet on that front in recent weeks. That dry spell in signings combined with claims of the Venky’s being advised to reduce investment at Ewood Park has put the club in a bit of limbo.
However, there are still realistic signings Blackburn Rovers can make, even if their budget is cut. Here, we look at two players who could feasibly sign for the club in the coming weeks…
Danny Batth
Blackburn Rovers are in need of another centre-back even more now that it looks like Ashley Phillips is heading for Tottenham Hotspur. Batth could be the experienced figure Jon Dahl Tomasson is after and a deal could be affordable.
It would be a solid signing for Rovers and Batth could keep playing at a high level, bringing some much-needed depth and competition to Tomasson’s defensive ranks. With Phillips moving on, it could be that this one ramps up in the coming weeks.
Sonny Perkins
Further options are needed in attack too and Blackburn Rovers have been no strangers to the loan market over the years. It could be wise to make a temporary signing amid this potential drop in investment from the ownership and rumoured target Sonny Perkins could be the ideal addition.
The Leeds United prodigy looks ready to play first-team football and his ability to play across the front three or as an attacking midfielder would bring some valuable versatility to Tomasson’s ranks. Other sides have been linked but Blackburn’s reputation for working well with loan players could prove valuable if they firm up their interest.
