Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are considering a move for Brentford goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.
According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, writing on his Twitter page, Bayern Munich are eyeing up a move for Brentford shot-stopper Thomas Strakosha, as they seek an inexpensive short-term replacement for Manuel Neuer as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.
Strakosha is being considered as he would be a relatively cheap option to go for. Brentford themselves would presumably be open to negotiations given Strakosha has never featured in the Premier League for the Bees, and Mark Flekken’s recent arrival at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford’s goalkeeper situation
For Strakosha, this could be a career-defining opportunity to play at the very highest level of club football. However, given Strakosha only joined Brentford from Lazio last summer, Thomas Frank may not be inclined to sanction Strakosha’s exit on a permanent basis.
A loan move could be on the cards, especially as Bayern only want Strakosha in to provide additional depth between the sticks as Neuer continues to work his way back from a leg break suffered in December.
It remains to be seen if Bayern will make a formal approach for the 22-cap Albania international.
Strakosha isn’t the only goalkeeper whose future with Brentford is up in the air. There has been plenty of interest in David Raya this summer, and the Spaniard has made it clear that he wants to move on. Raya’s situation could also have an impact on Strakosha’s prospective switch to Germany.
