Sadio Mane is holding talks with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr with a view to a summer transfer that would see the former Liverpool forward link up with Cristiano Ronaldo
Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane is in talks with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr – and would link up with Cristiano Ronaldo if he made the move.
Mane joined Bayern from Liverpool in a £35.1million deal last summer but his first season did not go to plan, with the striker scoring only seven Bundesliga goals and missing the World Cup through injury.
The Senegalese international is set to leave the German champions this summer and recently refused to rule out a shock return to the Premier League. Mane has even been linked with a move to Manchester United – the Red Devils are in need of attacking reinforcements.
It comes after Mane outlined that he previously had an agreement in place to join United, before moving instead to Merseyside from Southampton back in 2016. However, it is the Saudi Arabian club – who have already signed Seko Fofana and Marcelo Brozovic this summer – now leading the race.
As first detailed by The Athletic, a transfer meeting took place between Mane’s representatives and Al-Nassr sporting director Goran Vucevic in Portugal to discuss a move. All parties are open to the move, as it would help fund Bayern’s pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
The move would bring an end to Mane’s year-long stint in Munich, but it would see him link up with Ronaldo – who joined the Saudi club in January. Earlier this year, the friendship between the two Premier League stars was outlined by a text message they shared.
Mane told SportBild earlier this year: “I met Cristiano Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season after my move was completed. He congratulated me and told me: ‘A great club. This is a great step for you.
