Sky Sports’ Pete Graves has issued an update on the Toon transfer front, revealing Newcastle’s strategy if and when deals for Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento are announced.
Barnes is all but done and ‘awaiting announcement’, while the Sky presenter believes Southampton’s Livramento will be the next to sign as we edge closer to agreeing a fee.
After that, Graves believes we could see one or two more arrivals, revealing that we are discussing potential loan-to-buy deals in a bid to strengthen our squad while working within FFP restrictions.
This is something The Mail’s Craig Hope has also reported and could be a smart route to further signings, allowing us to recruit now and pay later.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast about Livramento and potential loan signings, here’s what Graves had to say:
“They’re still in the market for more. Livramento will come in. He’s someone Eddie Howe sees as a right-back, if something happened to Kieran Trippier, and he can also play at left-back as well. He’s very versatile.
“I don’t think Newcastle are finished there. They are discussing potential loan-to-buy moves as well, as a way they can get around financial fair play.
“So, I do think, after Harvey Barnes, there’ll be definitely one, but potentially two or three more arrivals for the first-team at Newcastle.”
