Newcastle United transfer saga could soon be coming to an end

For better or worse, the Tino Livramento to Newcastle United transfer saga could soon be coming to an end.

Speculation over Livramento moving to St James’ Park ramped up last week, with claims that a £30million deal with Southampton was close.

That appeared to be wide of the mark, with Sky claiming that the Magpies’ latest bid for the defender had been rejected. He was then involved in a Southampton friendly, which hinted that a move to the North East certainly was not imminent.

There is now frustration at Newcastle’s end, with Toon officials seemingly unhappy with the way talks are going with Southampton.

Now it looks like a conclusion could be on the horizon one way or another.

Newcastle to push one more time for Tino Livramento

According to the Daily Mail’s weekly newsletter Transfer Confidential, Newcastle are going to make one more approach for Livramento before looking at alternative options.

That will hopefully apply some pressure on Southampton. They will know that our next offer is make or break. If they want to cash in then they will need to accept this bid or hope that someone else makes a move.

Newcastle clearly see something special in Livramento, who was previously called ‘very clever‘ by Theo Walcott. That is why they continue to chase him after so long.

He is obviously keen on the move too. In fact, the Telegraph state that he is ‘desperate’ to sign for Eddie Howe’s side.

That is very encouraging, and will hopefully aid our approach. With Livramento angling for a move, now is the time for Southampton to move him on.

Obviously any deal is tricky due to Chelsea’s sell-on clause, but that is something that Southampton have to accept – they were the ones who agreed to it in the first place.

But Newcastle’s patience appears to be wearing thin, and now one more bid will be made. Hopefully it is accepted and Howe gets his man, otherwise it is back to the drawing board.
